A while back I was privileged to share with a group of teenagers on the topic of " self Identity". The Anchor scripture Psalms 139:13-16
"13: For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14: I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
15: My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16: Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
A scripture I have read many times, but that day the Holyspirit gave me a dimension to it that blew my mind, and I thought to share.
The book of Psalms was written by King David of Israel, in this verse of scripture, he was giving God praise in details for how he was crafted and configured by God. The New English translation says "Certainly you made my mind and heart;" Vs 14 stood out to me when David said "I give thanks to you that I am marvelously set apart. Your works are wonderful! I KNOW THAT VERY WELL."
You may have either forgotten or are being distracted from "knowing very well" that God has made you unique! to be your "own person", he has made you with your own peculiarity. A lot of us have forgotten that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are a "Marvellous work of God". You were carefully and skillfully assembled, by your maker himself.
King David was telling the lord I know it! To know is to have an understanding of a subject matter. He was telling God I understand very well the fantastic way you created me, it blows my mind. I realize you carefully constructed and configured me and I give you praise for that.
As I went on speaking with them, I was reminded of the king of pop music globally recognized from when he was a child. Fearfully and wonderfully made from the womb. Crafted and configured with gifts that blessed the world, who did not know how carefully crafted, he was, and went ahead to alter the way he was made, lost his authentic self to whatever standards he upheld, till he lost his life.
Dear reader, this is a reminder to you, to come to a point of knowing! that God carefully, delicately created you and all that is within you. Be reminded today, never ever to allow media or the noise of the world to make you think or feel less of yourself.
